...in which I also try to explain this whole endeavour!

These stories are completely fictitious.  Let me repeat that again.  There is no truth to any of these stories.  None of what is depicted ever happened, except for some background events and stuff like that.  But the action is all fiction.

No disrespect is meant to any of the Beatles, especially John and George, who are both dead and unable to protect themselves from vultures such as myself.  If you're offended by such liberties being taken with these lads, I'm sorry, but, as I might point out, nobody is forcing you to read them.  You can go on your merry way.

I must point out that as far as certain salacious rumours are concerned, my incorporating them into my slash does NOT mean that I necessarily think they're true or even probable.  Remember, this is fiction and use of any such rumour does not constitute endorsement of it.  John's relationship with Brian is the most obvious one; whether they were actually lovers or not is anyone's guess.  And, in truth, it doesn't matter to me whether John was bisexual, at least not as far as I'm concerned.  Sure, it's nice to think there might be some basis in reality for what you're writing, but this is pure fiction, remember!

I must also note that, as in all fiction about real people, the characters are not the real people.  I certainly don't know enough about them to do that, and neither does any other fanfic writer.  There is a basis in reality, in that they're made as close as possible to the real thing, but in truth all the characters in my stories are fictionalised versions of their real life counterparts.

If the Beatles themselves knew everything that they've had to do in the fantasies that millions of hot sweaty schoolgirls (and others) have had about them over the past 30-plus years, well, this is pretty tame by comparison.  The whole point of teen idols is for randy little girls to swoon over them while in the first flush of their blooming sexuality; the exhilarating but dangerous feelings can be projected onto an inaccessible, thus safe, personality.  It happens to this day; look at the fanfic pages devoted to boybands.

Sorry for getting off on that tangent. Now for my pathetic stab at an explanation.

There was always a certain homoerotic ‘something’ in the Beatles' image, something that seemed to make the girls go even wilder and which, if the Beatles themselves were not fully conscious of what they were doing, they did seem to understand and encourage it on some level.  The hair, for instance which was sometimes referred to as ‘faggy’ or some other such term. In addition, there frequently seemed to be a homosexual implication in some of the press stories, especially in America.  Their whole getup was characterised as ‘cute’ but at times they looked almost girllike.

The reason I'm bringing this up is to try to explain the reason why the idea might be appealing.  It isn't just me, (I insist desperately), they themselves had a hand in this.  At least, that's what I like to think. And in any case, I just like to see cute boys getting it on. What can I say?

All right, this marks the end of my rantings on ‘Human Sexuality and Psychology 101’.

P.S. If you belong to Apple Corps Ltd., MPL, or any other organization run by the Beatles and/or their heirs, or if you are Paul or Ringo or a member of their families, or if you are one of their friends, please accept my apologies for my poor writing skills and limited imagination.  But I will not apologize for the act of slashing.   There is no shame in two men having sexual feelings for each other, and anyway, aren't we supposed to be past that kind of narrow-minded prejudice that says that two men (or women) falling in love with each other is some horrible crime against nature?  I hope my stories are taken in the same spirit of love and respect for the Beatles as that in which they were written.

Keep your hands off my First Amendment, baby!  :-P
